Hyderabad: There is no clarity over causes of the fire mishap which took place in Numaish. As per primary reports, an electric short circuit is being mentioned as the reason behind the fire.

Reasons behind the fire

According to the statements by the live witness, a short circuit from the air conditioner present in an ATM was being mentioned as the reason behind the fire. Later it was stated that the fire started from the premises of Mahesh Bank, while a person was changing a bulb, which led to the firing of the sparks. These, in turn, fell on the flexi there triggered the fire, goes one theory. Then the fire covered the area surrounding the Andhra bank and garment shops. As there was no fire extinguishing equipment in the place the fire spread out to other shops, added few others.

Another reason which is in circulation is about a cigarette butt which was not put out. The officials are recording all the versions being reported to them by the live witnesses and traders. Police are primarily focusing on the CC camera footage, it is learnt. Once the ashes are cleared, the forensic team will get to the analysis, confirmed a senior police official.

Hyderabad Metro Comes In For Praise

Hyderabad metro authorities are being applauded for their prompt response. They provided shelter to the girls from Vanitha Mahila Vidyalaya, and Kamala Nehru Polytechnic college. Later when the fire came under control and electricity was restored they were taken back to the hostels, as per HMR MD NVS Reddy. Metro even offered free rides to people, who were stranded in the exhibition, when the fire broke out.

Uproar against fire department officials

The fire department came in for a lot of flak for the way it handled the fire. While the fire was brought under control by late Wednesday night the material in the shops was left to burn till Thursday afternoon. The apparent risk of the sparks flying over to other shops and developing into the fire was not taken into consideration by fire department officials.

Demands to help the traders

On one hand, Tech-Tip director Bandagi Riyaz Kadri demanded compensation for the traders. He even remarked that estimated the loss will be almost Rs 70 crore. Riyaz Khadri held the Exhibition Society responsible for the incident. MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi has called for the freezing of bank accounts of the Society. On the other hand, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah took to Twitter pleading with TRS working president KT Rama Rao to help the traders of dry fruits and others from the state.
