Hyderabad: After having formally announced the political party formation and its name on April 2, Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman Professor Kondandaram has today unveiled the Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) party flag here. Speaking at the party flag unveiling ceremony, the party president was highly critical of the present TRS government and said that the government was behaving undemocratic and was against the spirit of freedom.

Prof Kondandaram said that restriction over people's freedom and dictatorship would not be encouraged. He mentioned that the present TRS government was working against the people's interest and pointed out that the general public were looking at TJS as an alternative. "We will show our strength and might on April 29's party formation public rally."

The TJS chief mentioned that people who had been involved in separate Telangana state movement would only find place in the party. More details about the party, the agenda and how they plan to deliver social justice to the people would be announced at the public rally on April 29, he added.

Who is Prof Kodandaram?

M Kodandaram is a professor in Political Science from Osmania University and will retire this year from the service. Prof Kodandaram was born to a farmer's family in Mancherial, his parents were Venkatamma and M Janardhan Reddy.

After joining as a research scholar in University of Hyderabad in 1980, he was there for only few months. Later he started working as a lecturer in Political Science in Osmania University, where while working he obtained his doctorate. He has been actively involved in civil liberties work in the 1980s.

He has been working towards building a consensus regarding forming a separate Telangana states and from mid-1990's he has been involved in organising events like seminars on which stressed on the need to form a separate Telangana state. He was also the president of Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika (TVV), he intensified his campaign in support of Telangana on various venues from 2003.

Later with the movement for separate Telangana gathering full steam, he was made the chairman of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC), which was formed for achieving Telangana state.
