Guess Who was Director’s First Pick for Pushpa's Friend Keshava’s Role
The Telugu blockbuster film Pushpa featured Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun in the lead role. This Telugu language movie achieved pan-Indian craze, raking in hundreds of crores in box office collections and setting new records. Not only Arjun’s captivating performance , the character of Keshava, portrayed as Arjun's friend, also struck a chord with audiences. Jagadish Bhandari brought Keshava's character to life with his Rayalaseema accent.
However, director Sukumar revealed that he had initially considered casting a different Telugu actor for the role of Keshava. Suhas has recently worked in the upcoming film Prasannavadanam. During the trailer launch event of the film, Sukumar disclosed that he had wanted to rope in Suhas for playing Keshava in Pushpa.
He told Suhas that Bunny (Allu Arjun) was very fond of him. The director said the Pushpa actor speaks highly of Suhas. In fact, we thought of casting you as Keshava in Pushpa. But then we learned you were doing a film as the hero. It wouldn't be right to offer you a side character when you're playing the lead, Sukumar added. Showering praises on Suhas, the director described him as a "mud actor" with immense potential and said he would rise to the level of renowned actor Nani in the future.
