PMO snubs Kiran Kumar's proposal

In a jolt to the state government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has declined to participate in events other than the ongoing COP-11 summit.

The Chief Minister's Office had reportedly suggested that the PM lay the foundation for the Metro Rail project and take part in the inaugural function of the Bio-tech Park, but the PMO is learnt to have snubbed the proposal. The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the state on the 16th of this month and is likely to return to Delhi the same afternoon, after unveiling the COP-11 pylon.
The Prime Minister's schedule is in part influenced by security concerns following Telangana activists' threats to disrupt his programme. Hence, the PMO's green signal to to his participation in the bio-diversity summit, which is currently being held in a high security zone.
Meanwhile, the TJAC Chairman, Prof. Kodandram, as also other pro-Telangana groups have already said that the PM would get a taste of the T-stir on his visit to the state capital, in view of which based on inputs from central intelligence agencies, the PMO has decided to limit his visit to COP-11 alone.
