Spurned youth attacks woman, held

A youth was today arrested for allegedly attacking a 23-year-old woman at her house in Nagole area after she rejected his marriage proposal, police said.

Kalyan went to Shanti's house today and demanded her hand in marriage from her mother Indira with whom he had a heated argument and allegedly hit her head with a scissor, they said. When Shanti intervened, Kalyan also allegedly attacked her with the scissor inflicting injuries on her hands and back, police said, adding Shanti was rushed to a nearby hospital and is being treated upon. L B Nagar police has been booked Kalyan under sections 307 and 323 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for attempt to murder and voluntarily causing hurt. Police said Shanti had filed police complaints against Kalyan on two earlier occasions accusing him of harassing her to marry him but later withdrew them.
