Jana Chaitanya Yatra, a gimmick!

YSRCP SC Cell state president Meruga Nagarjuna on Friday strongly criticised the TDP Jana Chaitanya Yatras and said there were mere gimmicks. He said the farmers in the state were passing through trying times due to the policies of the TDP government.

Speaking to mediapersons at Guntur, he said the agriculture was in crisis due to the short-sighted policies of the state government. "We are unable to tackle either drought or floods. All this is due to the lack of planning on the party of the state government,"he said.
In Tenali division alone, of the 4.90 lakh acres of ayacut, 80000 acres have not been brought under cultivation, he said and pointed out that of the sown area, 20000 acres of crop has completely dried up. The paddy has become discoloured, he said.
"The government should buy the discoloured paddy and provide seed for the second crop free of cost through the AP Seeds Corporation,"Nagarjuna said and added that though the agriculture minister hails from Guntur district, he has not been doing anything to alleviate the lot of the farmers.
Party secretary Lella Appireddy said the YSRCP would stand by the farmers in the hour of their need.
