Jai Lava Kusa Movie Review: Young Tiger Roars To Regale Fans  

Young Tiger Jr NTR's Jai Lava Kusa hit the screen amid huge expectations from his fans, especially in the backdrop of the hero's extraordinary performance on Bigg Boss show. Another special feature of the film is NTR dons three roles for the first time.

Undoubtedly, Jai Lava Kusa comes out as an out-and-out entertainer; so etertaining that the movie doesn't have a separate comedy track as NTR provides enough comedy in all the three roles, though one of them is supposed to be a serious villian. Jai's stammering makes the role very entertaining, as the makers wanted it to be.

The first-half runs more on entertainment and less on emotion. The three brothers accidentally part ways when they are young and Jai's grudge over his two brothers for humiliating him for his stammering grows with the age. He wants to avenge the humiliation by his uncle, Posani. He gets insulted every time for his stammering by uncle and he develops a negative character. He even wants to kill his brothers in a cylinder blast.

Finally, after some twists and turns in the story, Jai saves his brothers and everything comes to a happy ending.

In three different lifestyles, NTR's performance is ultimate.

As usual, NTR's dances in song sequences, especially on Tring Tring song is a dancing treat from Tarak. Choreography and styling are impressive.

Kusa turns Lava to save him from his failing love story with Rashi and when he is trouble because of a fraud that happens in a bank loan. At the same time thief, Kusa wants to exchange the stolen cash using Lava’s bank job due to the demonetization effect.

NTR as innocent Lava Kumar is so natural and realistic while Kusa maintains a lively presence throughout the movie. Kusa makes an accident and meets Lava. Both recognize each other. Innocent Lava sharing his struggle as a bank manager to Kusa.

Tarak performs some energetic moves but the choreography is very routine.

On the whole, Jai Lava Kusa is all about Jr NTR's performance and dances. He is everywhere and in every frame. Both the heroines - Rashi Khanna and Niveda Thomas - are reduced to just supporting roles. NTR is the only image of the movie. His performance as Jai will be remembered for a very long time. Everything he has done for Jai role in terms of diction, body language and expressions are memorable. Lava is lovable and NTR again mesmerizes with his innocent expressions. Kusa is witty and this is again seeing NTR at his another best which seemed like the mix of Chari from Adhurs and Raja from Yamadonga.

Raashi Khanna and Niveda Thomas performed well while Posani Krishna Murali, Sai Kumar and Ronit Roy excelled in their roles.

Songs composed by Devi Sri Prasad are nice and Raavana and Nee Kallalona are chartbusters. Every song works well in the movie with the moves of NTR. DSP did a good job in composing background score and the song that comes during climax and childhood sequences of Jai Lava Kusa is superb with well written lyrics.

Cinematography by Chota K. Naidu is superb and he has done a fantastic job in handling three roles with the support of VFX team which did a nice job. Editing could have been better and action sequences are composed well. Art department did a nice job and production values are apt.

Finally, director Bobby could have concentrated more on his screenplay to make Jai Lava Kusa even better movie. To sum up, Jai Lava Kusa is NTR's one man show.

Audience rate Jai Lava Kusa okay with 3.5 out of 5 stars.
