Final verdict in 'Satyam' case on August 11

The Nampally CBI court reserved the verdict on Satyam case for August 11.

Satyam Ramalingaraju, the prime accused and other accused were present at the hearing on Monday.

It may be recalled that the CBI framed charges against Ramalingaraju and others in Satyam Computers scam, which involved alleged embezzlement of Rs.9,000 crores.

In the five-and-a-half year long case, as many as 216 persons gave their witness and 3038 documents were examined. The scam came into limelight on January 7,2009.

Erstwhile Satyam Computers Chairman Ramalingaraju had then openly admitted to his involvement and surrendered to the authorities.

Raju attended the court as Enforcement Directorate filed a chargesheet on money laundering allegations.

On the other hand, Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) also gave its verdict in the case. It asked Raju and four others to pay an amount of Rs.1,849 crores with interest. It banned these persons from participating in stock markets for 14 years. The SEBI investigated the scam for five and a half years.
