Chintamani: 2 dead and 8 fell severely sick after eating prasadam at the temple, and a case has been cracked by the police. They have arrested one of the main accused and two others who helped her in the act.

Police say the reason behind the incident is an extramarital affair between a woman and her married paramour. According to the details provided by IGP Dayanand and SP Karthik Reddy, Lakshmi(48) was involved in a relationship with already married Lokesh(30), who lives in the same neighbourhood.

Gowri, wife of accused Lokesh came to know about the relationship and complained to the police. After the incident, Lokesh went missing and Gowri filed a missing complaint with the police. However, Lokesh was in contact with Lakshmi.

As Gowri and her mother opposed their relationship Lakshmi came up with a plan to kill both of them. In the process accused Lakshmi made prasadam, asked her maid Amaravati and the flower vendor at the temple Parvathi, to distribute the Kesaribath. Before giving it to them, she laced Cyanide, used by the goldsmith, with the prasadam.

Lakshmi ordered them to give it specifically to Gowri and her mother. Gowri’s mother later gave the prasadam to the neighbours and had some. Two women passed away and eight others got severely sick after consuming the Cyanide mixed prasadam. However, both of them are alive. Lokesh is absconding and a search is on for him, added the IGP.
