Ashwaraopet: A sixty-year-old man was killed in Khammam district. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Madupu Papachari who lived in Ashwaraopet. The incident took place on Saturday night and came to light in the early hours of Sunday. Papachari lived along with her wife Sitamahalakshmi and their two daughters. Recently, the entire family had gone to their relative's house in Pune except Papachari. On Sunday, a local guy found Papchari lying motionless on the ground in a pool of blood. He then informed the victim's brother Madupu Venkataramana.

The brother lodged a complaint at Ashwaraopet police station after which the town CI and SI reached the spot and collected details.

Based on a complaint, the police filed a case and started probing the matter. The body was shifted to the local government hospital for post-mortem.

The reason behind the murder:

The deceased Papachari owned a huge chunk of farming land. Next to the land is Batna Chittemma's house. The land owner, it is learned, along her sons Subrahmanyam and Nagasiva Someswara Rao were trying to acquire the land for a long time. They also allegedly threatened Papachari to sell it. But Papachari made it clear that he would never sell his land. Then they started threatening for over 10 days.

Two days back, they attempted to acquire the land. Papachari approached the police. With the help of cops, he built a fence around his property. After finishing his work, he is believed to have left the place at 7:20 PM. Subrahmanyam and Someswara Rao who were closely watching Papachari's movements followed him. The victim had parked his car opposite his house at 8:25 PM. Around 11 PM, the accused followed and attacked the old man from behind as he was stepping into his house. He succumbed to knife stabs and also suffered a head injury.

The police and the clues team reached the spot and collected details. The dog squad went to Chittemma's house and stopped. The police are suspecting that the land dispute is the main reason behind the murder.
