Nandyal: Telangana police reached the residence of TDP leader and former IPS officer Mandra Sivananda Reddy to arrest him in a land dispute case. The police searched his house at Allur in Nandikotkur mandal of Nandyal district, however, he managed to escape.

According to reports, the Central Crime Station (CCS) police team went to Sivananda Reddy’s house to arrest him but he demanded a notice before arrest. As the Telangana police prepared the notice, he got into a car and left the premises. The Hyderabad police tried to stop him, but he managed to escape. Huge gathering of Sivananda Reddy's followers stopped the police in discharging their duties and facilitated the escape of their leader as the police officials looked in disbelief.

The CCS police team had gone to Allur to arrest Sivananda Reddy in connection with a land dispute case in Hyderabad. The case is related to the crime number 194/2022 linked to the land dispute in Telangana’s capital. When the news of Reddy’s arrest spread, the TDP cadres started gathering at Sivananda Reddy's house in large numbers. It is not clear whether the Telangana police chased him or is contemplating a legal action against the TDP leader.

Mandra Sivananda Reddy is the TDP's in-charge for the Nandyal Lok Sabha constituency. He has been actively participating in the election campaign. He took voluntary retirement from the Indian Police Service to join politics. Initially, he had joined YSRCP but crossed over to the TDP after the 2014 elections.
