2 Killed As Building Under Construction Collapses at Film Nagar

The building is an extension of Film Nagar Cultural Club

Hyderabad: Two laborers died under a collapsed building at Film Nagar in the city on Sunday. Over a dozen other workers are seriously injured. Most of the pillars of the building which is being constructed by Film Nagar Cultural Club as an extension were razed to the ground.

It is suspected that the design of the building was the cause of the collapse. The slab work was done only last night engaging around 50 workers. The six-storey construction plan was completed up to first floor. The main building of the club is also affected due to the collapse.

The dead were identified as Mansoor Shaik of Kolkata and Anand from Hyderabad. The injured are admitted in Apollo hospital and some of their condition is stated to be critical.

Serious Action Against Builders

City police commission Mahender Reddy said the building had no permission and serious action will be taken against the builders who are at large now.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed grief over the death of laborers. Mayor B. Rammohan, Minister T. Srinivas Yadav, MP Vishweshwar Reddy, leaders and officials visited the spot.

The injured are:

1. Srinu(29), 2. Monappa Shiva(31), 3. Kondi Mallesham(25), 4. Saheb Mandal(20), 5. Koteswhar Rao(35), 6. Sitaram(32), 7. Ajit Biswas(24), 8. Tippanna Veerappa(24), 9. Ashok(35) and 10. Saraswathi(35).
