Woman Booked Under Preventive Detention Act for Repeated Thefts
Hyderabad: Malakpet Police on Saturday imposed Preventive Detention (PD) Act against an inter-state woman criminal as she, who was notorious for stealing cash and jewellery from woman passengers in crowded buses, had been resorting to thefts repeatedly even she was jailed for several times in the past.
According to SI Alluri Ganga Reddy, the woman Govula Janaki (37), who belongs to Vijayawada, recently shifted to the city and was residing at NFC Road at Krishnanagar Colony in Moulali area. There were several cases of theft filed against Janaki under the limits of Vijayawada commissionerate.
After shifting to Hyderabad, she committed several such crimes and so cases were booked at Gopalpuram and Malkapet police stations. According to the orders of CP, police invoked the provisions under PD Act against the woman criminal.
