The Ohara School of Ikebana was started in 1988 by the late Grand Master Horyu Meena Ananthnarayan. It is a registered organization with more than 350 members. The Chapter celebrates March 30th, the founder's birthday, by organizing an Ikebana exhibition, with arrangements done by its members called "Gurusamhitha."

Ikebana is a Japanese art of flower arrangement that is based on three main lines that symbolize heaven, earth, and mankind. The origin of Ikebana can be traced back to the ritualistic flower offerings in Buddhist temples in the sixth century.
