Ethiopian Prime Minister And Wife A ‘Million’aire

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his wife and First Lady Zinash Tayachew were all smiles after a court approved their request to adopt akid from an orphanage in Ethiopia.

The couple applied to the federal first instance court on January 22 seeking permission for adoption of a child from the Kibebe Tsehay Orphanage.

The court had approved the request over a week back and said that it was in the best interest of Million, the girl to be adopted, who is under 2-years-old and so couldn't comment on the adoption.

This comes after Zambia’s first lady adopted a one-month-old baby who was abandoned by her mother just after being born, in December last year.

Other former first ladies in Africa have also adopted children, including Ghana’s Lordina Mahama and Zimbabwe’s Grace Mugabe.

Ethiopia’s first couple have three children of their own and their decision to adopt Million has been hailed by many people.
