Tension Prevails At Kurnool Collectorate As Lawyers Demand High Court In The District 

Kurnool: Tension prevailed at Kurnool District Collectorate on Tuesday when members of the Kurnool Bar Association staged a protest demanding setting up of High Court at Kurnool. Lawyers jostled with the police personnel deployed at the Collectorate. Several protestors sustained injuries during the chaos that prevailed at the Collectorate.

Lawyers led by Rayalaseema Advocates Joint Action Committee (JAC) and Kurnool Bar Association President Naga Lakshmi Devi have been protesting for High Court. Speaking to media persons, lawyers said that they would intensify protest demanding High Court as they had lost capital city to Amaravati.

Earlier, opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh staged a dharna in Anantapur town demanding setting up of the state High Court in Rayalaseema region.

Political parties including YSRCP, CPI, CPM and Congress expressed solidarity with the dharna being staged by noted advocate Raja Reddy demanding HC in Rayalaseema.
