Hyderabad: In a major relief to Intermediate students, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced that the Board will carry out the reevaluation and recounting of answer scripts belonging to 3.28 lakh students who were declared as failed. However, this is exempted for students who passed the exams and still want to go for re-verification.

The decision was arrived at a high-level meeting convened by the Chief Minister here on Wednesday in which Education Minister G. Jagadish Reddy, Education Secretary B. Janardhan Reddy, Board of Intermediate Secretary Ashok and other officials participated.

Expressing anguish over the spate of suicides of Intermediate students, the Chief Minister appealed to students not to resort to extreme steps, and assured that the re-verification process would be completed at the earliest.

The Chief Minister also instructed the officials to study the best practices from across the world to conduct examinations without any lacunae. He also asked officials to explore the possibility of handing over the responsibility of conducting exams, both Intermediate and Eamcet, to an independent agency.
