New Delhi: Two Colombo suicide bombers have been identified as millionaire businessman's sons, according to intelligence sources.

Mohamad Yusuf Ibrahim is a respected spice trader. His close friends include minister for industry and commerce Rishath Bathiudeen, and had often been seen at former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s receptions.

His two sons - Inshaf Ahmed Ibrahim (33)and Ilham Ahmed Ibrahim (31) left the family's three-storey luxury building in Dematagoda and blew themselves up at the Cinnamon Grand and Shangri-La hotels' breakfast buffets. Intel sources told a leading daily website that the brothers entered the hotel and detonated the bomb at the exact same time.

Meanwhile, a third suicide bomber carried out the strike at the nearby Kingsbury Hotel, and a fourth suicide bomber blew himself up near the Shangri-La hotel when he was confronted by the police.

The ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Photographs of three of the attackers were also posted online. They swore allegiance to ISIS.

Police are now questioning the third son 30-year-old Ijas Ahmed Ibrahim to understand how much he knew about the operation. Sources told the website that the third floor of the house was booby-trapped with explosives, for which three police officers were killed during search.
