Hyderabad: The Haj Committee of India announced that the last day to pay the first installment has been extended till 15 February for the pilgrims selected to visit the Haj. As part of the first installment, they have to pay an amount of Rs 81,000.

If in case they are unable to pay the amount, their position will be canceled and others present in the waiting list will be allocated the position said Masihullah Khan, Telangana State Haj Committee president. The second installment Rs 1.2 lakh is payable by February 20. It can also be paid along with the first payment.

The money can be paid online or money can be transferred to the State Bank of India Ac. No 32175020010 FEE TYPE-25 or Union Bank of India A/c. No. 318702010406009 (Haj Account) in any branch having a core banking system. The amount can be remitted online by an e-payment on the official website www.hajcommittee.gov.in.

In the year 2018 for the first time after Independence, a record number of 1,75,025 Muslims from India performed Haj without any subsidy. For Haj 2019, about 1,36,000 online applications have been received.

Interestingly, a large number of Muslim women are likely to go to Haj without 'Mehram' (male companion) this year and more than 100 women Haj coordinators and Haj assistants have been deployed to assist the Indian women Haj pilgrims.
