Maha Shivaratri is celebrated all over India with religious fervour. The chanting of mantras will be echoed throughout the country on the festive day. Many people throng to the famous Shiva temples across the state to seek the blessings from the Lord.

Here we bring you some of the famous Shiva shrines in Telangana where we witness a lot of devotees lined up to have a glimpse of the favourite deity.

Keesaragutta: Keesaragutta temple is the most famous temple in the outskirts of Hyderabad. This temple is also known as Ramalingeshwara Swamy temple, and according to the legend Lord Rama installed Shiva lingam here.

Vemulawada: This temple of Lord Shiva, who is worshipped in the form of Raja Rajeshwara Swami is very famous in this part of Telangana. The presiding deity Sri Raja Rajeswara Swamy who is locally popular as Rajanna is much believed and Shivaratri will witness huge influx of people from all over Telangana thronging the temple to seek his blessings. This temple is situated in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Komuravelli: Komuravelli Mallikarjuna Swamy temple popularly known as Komuravelli Mallanna temple is located on a hill in Komuravelli village of Siddipet district in Telangana state. Here too we find many Shiva devotees making a bee-line to pray at their beloved God.

Chaya Someshwara temple: Chaya Someswara Swamy temple, also known by the name Thrikutalayam, is a Hindu temple located in Panagal, Nalgonda district, Telangana, India.

Thousand pillared temple: The temple is star-shaped with several shrines and lingams. There are three shrines inside the temple called the Trikutalayam, dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Surya. Constructed during Kakatiya period, the temple is oldest Shiva temple in Telangana and is an architectural marvel.

Ramappa temple: Ramappa Temple is a famous Shiva temple and more popular for its wonderful architecture. Located in the valley of Palampet village, 77 km from Warangal, this temple was constructed during the Kakatiya era. The famous Perini Natyam has been designed with the help of the frescos on the temple. Even today we have floating bricks in the temple premises.

Sangameshwara temple: Sangameshwara temple is situated in Alampur, Mahbubnagar district. It is located near Muchumarri at the bank of the Krishna and Bhavanasi rivers.
