Nandyal: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won the Nandyal by-poll election, the 19-round counting of which concluded here on Monday.

TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy defeated YSRCP candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy by over 27,466 votes. While the TDP candidate got 97,076 votes, his rival polled 69,610. The Congress party managed to get a mere 1300 votes and remained a distant third. The final tally stood at 97,076 votes for TDP, 69,610 for YSRCP and Congress got 1,382 votes. Interestingly, in Godapadu, TDP secured a decent lead over the YSRCP.

The by-election was held on August 23 following the death of sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy in March this year. The TDP fielded Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy, his nephew, in the by- election.
