Power Save Mode: KCR govt cutting down on ACs in offices

With no immediate solution to overcome acute power shortage in Telangana, Chief Minister KCR has gone on to power save mode.

Saving power has become government's top priority.
Now, the government has decided to cut down on air conditioners in the secretariat. With ACs whirring continuously in all rooms, the power bills on ACs alone are running into Rs 50 lakh per month.
Telangana chief secretary Rajiv Sharma has issued orders for removing ACs that were installed without permission.
He entrusted the responsibility of cutting down the ACs to the respective heads of the department.
On the other hand, KCR has issued instructions to Prabhakar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, Telangana State Genco and Transco to reduce the power holiday to industries from two days to one day in view of the improvement in the power supply position.
