Plastic Godown Gutted in Mallepally Residential Area

Hyderabad: A five-storied building with full of plastic items caught fire and crashed in Sitaram Bagh area under Mallepally limits on Sunday.The entire building was being used as a godown by a plastic trader. The fire was first noticed at 9am by local residents, but no action was taken as it was a holiday. Neither the owners of the building nor the trader who used it as godown were available and nobody took initiative to put off the fire which could have been caused by electrical short circuit during the night.

As temperatures are soaring to newer and newer highs by the day, the plastic material caught fire easily and it spread to the entire building. By the time firemen arrived at the spot, the fire grew uncontrollable and all the efforts to douse it went futile. Eight fire engines were pressed into service and the firefighting was going on at the time of posting this report.

No deaths were reported, but the loss of property could be in crores of rupees. Firefighters were trying to contain the fire from spreading to adjoining buildings.
