Constant vigil on water supply tankers in GHMC

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials are taking every possible step to ensure that there are no issues or irregularities in the water supply by tankers for the city people and the service has been streamlined to a large extent.

The vigilance branch of GHMC is keeping an eye on the movement of water tankers and if the drivers are demanding any bribes or extra money from the customers or diverting the tankers from the booked place. Water Board MD M. Dana Kishore said vigilance wing of the GHMC will monitor and the vigilance personnel will inspect the movement of the tankers and check out whether the tankers are reaching the consumers who had booked them.

The official said, “GPS should be installed on all tankers to monitor their movement. The board managers will send a list of tankers and phone numbers of the customers to the head office daily for monitoring.” “All Tankers including those of the GHMC should have cards. If they don’t have cards, the tankers would not be refilled. Customers should not bribe the tanker drivers or pay extra”, he added.

Water Board is also concentrating on increase of the time frame of the tanker supply to cut the waiting list in the city.
