Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh DGP N Sambasiva Rao has warned against any group or party taking out rallies without express permission from the police department.

The warning comes in the light of the proposed "Chalo Amaravati" call given up Kapu agitation leader Mudragada Padmanabham. The rally was scheduled to start from Wednesday. Addressing the media here on Tuesday, the DGP said the department did not receive any request seeking permission for the rally. He also cautioned against anyone taking part in any rally in Venkatapalem and Mandadum villages as Section 30 and 144 were in force in these places. "The police would not hesitate to file cases against those indulging in damage of property," he said while referring to instances of Kapu agitators indulging in arson during earlier protests.

Meanwhile, security at the AP Secretariat was beefed up in view of the Kapu agitation.
