OU To Drive Away Non-Boarders With Police Help

Hyderabad: To drive away the non-boarders from the hostels, the Osmania University officials have opted for stern action threatening to seek police help to evacuate them if they failed to oblige. The university staff said that for some hostels power and water supply is cut off as it has been facing with financial burdens as the regular courses are yet to be started.

"We will only seek help of the police after warning the non-boarders and we have already urged them to move out voluntarily, if they don’t vacate hostels voluntarily then we will seek help of the police considering it as a last option," a senior official said.

The university is said to have 22 hostels and can accommodate around 8,000 students but reportedly 4000 non-boarders have occupied it and many have passed out years back.

OU Vice-Chancellor S. Ramchandram said that onus lies on them that new boarders are given admission and can only happen when the non-boarders vacate it.
