'No need of renaming Krishna, Guntur districts'

Opposition is gathering to the TDP's plan to rename one of the two central coastal districts after TDP founder NT Rama Rao.

The government of Andhra Pradesh led by Chandrababu Naidu has announced the plan for naming either Krishna or Guntur district after NTR.

Efforts of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to rename Krishna or Guntur after  NT Rama Rao are not proper,” said S.Raghunath, an eminent Telugu poet belonging to Srinivasapuram in Kolar district in Karnataka.

He shared his opinions with Sakshi on Sunday. “Every district in Andhra Pradesh has its own significance in some way or the other,” said Raghunath.

“The state is facing several problems post-bifurcation and even the location of the capital city has not been deiced as yet. The men in power are yet to fulfill their election promises,” commented the poet.

“It is ridiculous that the State Government is wasting its time in renaming the district at a time when there are more pressing problems,” said Raghunath.
