A 19-year-old teenager was arrested in West Bengal's Malda district on Saturday for allegedly killing four family members and burying them in a room of their house as he was upset for not being given money for his expenses. Police had also recovered various electronic devices from Asif.

The incident took place four months ago, in Gurutola village in Kaliachak police station area after the accused Asif Mohammad’s brother who survived and escaped from the brutal murders, informed the police about the gruesome incident. Police said that the bodies of the accused's father (50), mother (45), sister (17) and grandmother (75) were exhumed and sent for post-mortem examination.

As per reports, the accused's 21- year-old brother Arif Mohammad said that on February 28, Asif had served the four family members cold drinks laced with sleeping pills. As they fell unconscious, he tied their hands and gagged their mouths with duct tapes. He then drowned the four of them in a pond in the house and buried the bodies in the warehouse wall in the basement of their house. To avoid suspicion he stopped the maid and warned the brother of dire consequences. He had apparently told the neighbors that his family members had gone to their apartment in Kolkata and was staying alone. The victim somehow managed to escape and had gone into hiding in various places including Kolkata during these four months.

He told the police that the accused was always demanding money from his father and was scolded for asking for it. The other family members had also chided him for asking money for his luxurious lifestyle and fancy electronic gadgets.

The brother who had managed to escape finally came forward and informed the Kaliachak police station on Friday night. The accused will be produced at Malda District Court on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Police on Sunday has arrested two more people in connection with the murder. Sabir Ali and Maifuz Alam, friends of Asif Mohammad were arrested and five firearms and 64 rounds of ammunition were recovered from their houses.
