New Delhi: As the nation is gearing up to celebrate the 75th Republic Day tomorrow, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday announced police medals for the policemen in the two Telugu states. Notably, the Union Home Ministry awards these Police Medals twice a year during Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations.

A total of 20 Telangana Police personnel and nine from Andhra Pradesh Police will receive the prestigious award on January 26, 2024, Friday. Out of the 20 members from Telangana Police, six members will be given the Medal for Gallantry, two for Rashtrapati Visisht Seva awards while the remaining 12 will be Visisht Seva medals. In Andhra Pradesh, all the nine policemen were picked for the Police Vishisht Seva medal.

Furthermore, Telangana Additional DGP Soumya Mishra and Devendra Singh Chauhan have been selected for Rashtrapati Vishisht Seva Medals.

A total of 1,132 personnel from police, fire service, home guard, civil defence and correctional services have been chosen for gallantry and service medals on the occasion of the Republic Day 2024, the statement from the Home Ministry said.
