Operation Uttarandhra: YSRCP in Full Swing!

20 Mar, 2024 13:16 IST|Sakshi Post

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress Party is in full swing. After the super success of magnum opus Siddham meetings, YSRCP's graph substantially increased. Yet, the ruling party is leaving no stone unturned to reach its ambitious goal of 175 out of 175 seats. While YSRCP has a clear edge in the Rayalaseema region, the party doesn't want to take any chances in the Uttarandhra region.

The three combined districts of Uttarandhra have 34 Assembly seats. In 2019, YSRCP swept the elections by bagging 28 seats out of 34 while the TDP is confined to meager 6 Assembly seats. In 2024, YSRCP wants to repeat the feat and working towards it aggressively. On one hand, YSRCP is way ahead in the campaign. CM Jagan is all set for his Bus Yatra and announced a schedule to conduct public meetings in all districts under 'Memanta Siddham'.

On the other hand, TDP is clueless about seats finalising. The principal Opposition party, which is struggling to gain muscle, joined forces with Pawan Kalyan's Janasena and Modi-Shah-led BJP hoping to give a fight to the ruling YCP. But CM Jagan & Co. have devised a perfect strategy to defeat the TDP-BJP-Janasena combine.

Whilst YCP has already announced its candidates, CM Jagan is also reportedly open to any changes in order to accommodate any aspirants from the TDP Janasena who failed to secure the seats. The YSRCP top brass is closely observing the developments in the alliance's compound. In several constituencies, TDP and Janasena leaders are crossing their swords for the candidacy. YSRCP wants to turn this into its advantage.

For instance, TDP wants to field Ganta Srinivasa Rao from the Cheepurapalli Assembly constituency. However, Ganta wants to contest from the Bheemili constituency and conveyed his wish to TDP chief Chandrababu as well. But Ganta isn't quite happy with the party's decision. Ganta has plans to switch his loyalties to YSRCP and this may work for the ruling party too. Bandaru Satyanrayana is dissenting too. YSRCP may offer Anakapalli an MP ticket to Bandaru if he is keen to join the party. Kala Venkat Rao, Kimili Mrunalini and Gouthu Sireesha's families too utterly disappointed with no allocation of the desired seats in TDP. YSRCP may turn this dissent within TDP to its advantage.

Several senior leaders in TDP are expressing their angst and frustration openly over Naidu's delaying tactics on the candidacy in several seats. Exactly, this is going to be a big plus to the YSRCP. It can be noted that Kapu leaders like Mudragada Padmanabham have already joined the party and many more are expected to join in the coming days.

Already, YSRCP has a strong foothold in the Uttarandhra and if further improves its strength, it is going to be a cakewalk for the party to return to power with a huge majority. Hence, YSRCP has set its focus on the Uttarandhra.
