Tamil Nadu To Beat Plastic Pollution

Tamil Nadu leads other states of India in banning the usage of single use plastics such as polythene bags and bottles. A ban on plastics less than 51 microns has already been enforced in the state. The new announcement comes in the wake of World environment day for which India has chosen the theme "Beat plastic pollution". Announcing it in the the ongoing assembly session chief minister Eddapadi K Palaniswami explained that the ban does not cover essentials such as milk, oil and medicines. However, this new ban comes into effect only next year.
