Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh state CPI secretary Ramakrishna said that during Mahanadu food was the highlight and nothing else happened during the three days. In protest against the ruling TDP government policies, the party had planned to protest before the Tahsildhar offices across the state on June 18. Ridiculing Mahanadu, the CPI leader said the programme was designed in such a way that it was meant only to sing praises of Chandrababu.

The CPI state secretary criticised the TDP government for being concerned with the welfare of the rich. The poor were a neglected lot, he added. Chandrababu had promised to construct 20 lakh houses for the poor, but hasn't built even one, he said and added that the CM did not distribute an inch of land to the poor. "The CPI is planning demonstrations before all the Tahsildhar offices in the state on June 18 to protest against the anti-poor policies of the TDP government," he said.

Ramakrishna demanded that the state government increase the pension to the unemployed from Rs 1000 per month to Rs 3600 per month. It was not fair to narrowdown the scope of the pension to only 10 lakh unemployed persons, he added.
