Hyderabad Encounter Supreme Court Hearing Postponed

HYDERABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday postponed hearing pleas seeking an investigation in the alleged encounter of the four accused in the Hyderabad’s vet doctor rape and murder case to Thursday.

The Supreme Court said that it has decided to appoint a Supreme Court retired judge to investigate the incident in which the four accused were shot by the Cyberabad police at Chatanpally village. The Apex court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which alleged that the encounter was fake and sought a probe against concerned police officials.

Opposing the claims of Cyberabad police Commissioner VC Sajjanar’s encounter, the petitioners GS Mani and Pradeep Kumar Yadav and advocate ML Sharma has filed separate PILs in Supreme Court. GS Mani and Pradeep Kumar Yadav demanded independent investigations into the encounter and ML Sharma sought Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Supreme Court Judges.

As these petitions moved for urgent hearing, Chief Justice Bobde agreed to it. Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar left for Delhi to appear in Supreme Court.

he apex court has asked the state government and the petitioners to propose suggestions of the name of the retired judge who will probe the incident. Chief justice of India SM Bobde stated that he has approached Justice P Reddy, but he declined.

Meanwhile, Telangana High Court directed the police to preserve slain bodies of the encounter until 13th December. The dead bodies were shifted to state-run Gandhi Hospital in an air-conditioned manner from Mahabubnagar Medical College.

The National Human Rights Commission team from Delhi had investigated the case and the report will be made public.
