Man Arrested For Theft in Piyush Goyal

Mumbai: Police arrested a person in Mumbai who had allegedly committed theft in Railways Union Minister Piyush Goyal's residence in September where he was working as a house help there.

According to reports, the man has been identified as Vishnu Kumar Vishwakarma (28), worked for the Union Minister for the past three years in his residence at Villa Orb located in the Napean Sea Road in Mumbai and gained their trust and confidence. The police have arrested Vishwakarma and recovered some of the stolen items from his possession and filed an FIR against him in Gamdevi Police Station.

The theft is said to have taken place between September 16 and 18, but came to light only after some silver and brass items were found missing from the Minister's house. The Minister's family members filed a police complaint about the stolen items in the police station.

Police officers said that they are also suspecting Vishwakarma of stealing confidential data from Goyal's personal computer. Police further added that the accused had sent emails to some unidentified persons and later deleted data from his mobile.

The police had registered cases under IPC sections 381 (theft by a servant), 405 (criminal breach of trust) and the Information Technology Act, and further investigation is underway.
