Parthasarathi in fresh trouble

Secondary education minister, Kolusu Parthasarathi, is in fresh trouble as election officials are set to act on him for not declaring in his 2004 and 2009 election affidavits that a criminal case was pending against him.

Last month, the special court for economic offenses sentenced state secondary education minister K Parthasarathi to a two-month imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,15,000 in a Foreign Exchange Regulations Act (Fera) violations case, which was initiated by the Enforcement Directorate against his firm over 11 years ago.

This time, former IAS officer, E A S Sarma, filed a complaint with the Election Commission that Parthasarathi had concealed information on the criminal case that is pending against him in his election affidavits.

Last time he was convicted, the opposition parties had demanded his resignation. It seems this time too, they are likely maintain the same stand.
