Missing Boy Murdered; Neighbor Arrested 

Hyderabad: A 12-year-old boy who went missing from Chandrayangutta area here last week was found to have been murdered by a college student who planned to obtain ransom from his parents. Police retrieved the boy's body from a lake in the area on Thursday.

Munir Ahmed (21), a BCom student, allegedly kidnapped the boy on April 28 and had planned to demand Rs25 lakh in ransom from the boy's parents.

"The parents expressed suspicion about Munir, who lived in the neighborhood. We questioned him. Then he went to Mumbai. We called him back and questioned him again and he confessed to killing the boy," a police official said.

The accused, strangled the boy and dumped the body in the lake. He told police that he killed the boy as he couldn't muster up the courage to make ransom call to his parents.

A case of murder and kidnapping was registered against him.
