Man Booked For Carrying Gun Atop Tirumala

Tirupati: A man was booked after 14 bullets and a gun were found in a car at the Alipiri check-post in Tirumala on Wednesday. The unidentified miscreants from Pune was visiting the place in a Hyundai SUV with registration number MH 21 AAP 8055.

The accused objected to the checking saying that they were family members of Pune Assistant Commissioner of Police. However, the officials said that the check was mandatory and even higher-officials are not exempted.

Upon checking, the officials were shocked to discover 14 bullets hidden beneath the driver's seat and also found a Walther pistol. The official were told that it belongs to one Vijay Mane and was a licensed one.

Chief security and vigilance officer Ake Ravikrishna said that as per the protocol the weapon has to be handed over even it's a licensed one. So far, no arrests were made but the person was detained for questioning.
