Taking suo motu cognisance of reports on death of a baby boy after he was bitten by stray dogs in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district, Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta Justice B Subhashan Reddy today sought reports from government officials over incidents of dog bites.

The Lokayukta called for reports from all the District Collectors, District Panchayat Officers and  he Superintendents of Police about the incidents of dog bites and the particulars of the injured/dead and the remedial measures taken and posted the matter to October 10.

A one-year-old child reportedly mauled to death by stray dogs at Nagaram in Keesara mandal of Ranga Reddy district.

Earlier, such instances were reported in Khammam district and other areas.

This incident only shows that the local authorities are not evincing interest in licensing and administering Anti Rabies Vaccination, thus resulting in loss of precious lives of human beings, the Lokayukta said.

Meanwhile, the Keesara Police have booked a case of unnatural death under section 174 CrPC following the incident.
