Karnataka Government categorically said that it will have no objection to shift AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa to Tamil Nadu prison. It said if the neighbouring state makes a request through courts, Karnataka would not oppose it.
Karnataka Home Minister K J George said his government would have no objection to shifting Jayalalithaa.
She is in Parappana Agrahara Central Prison jail here since September 27 after the Special Court sentenced her to four years in prison, besides imposing a Rs 100 crore fine on her, in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case against her. The AIADMK chief's aide Sasikala, her relatives V N Sudhakaran, disowned son of the former Chief Minister, and J Elavarasi were also sent to four years in jail in the case, apart from being slapped a fine of Rs 10 crore each.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will hear the bail plea of Jayalalithaa after a bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu posted the matter for October 17. She was denied bail by the Karnataka High Court on October 7, holding that corruption was a violation of human rights.
