JAC steps up Telangana movement in Delhi

Telangana issue should be settled during the current Parliament session, said Prof Kodandaram, chairman of the Telangana political JAC.

Addressing TJAC "satyagraha deeksha" at Janthar Manthar in New Delhi on Monday, Kodandaram said the Congress party failed to fulfill its promise on Telangana. Because of the fraudulent attitude of the Congress, about thousand people had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana, he said.

TJAC launched its two-day satyagraha deeksha as part of Samsad yatra to exert pressure on the UPA government for Telangana. Sumitro Chakraborty, Editor of “Mainstream” newspaper inaugurated the fast camp. BJP leaders Prakash Javadekar, Bandaru Dattathreya, State president Kishan Reddy, TRS leaders Eetela Rajender, KTR, Telangana Nagara Samithi leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy were among those who present at the Deeksha camp.

Meanwhile, Telangana Congress MPs extended their solidarity to the TJAC samsad yatra. MP Ponnam Prabhakar said 48-hour deeksha would be taken up in the parliament. He said the Centre should stand by its promise as it was the last opportunity to take a decision on Telangana.
