Hyd Encounter Hearing Postponed Till Thursday, Bodies Shifted To Gandhi Hospital: HC

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court after hearing the petition of the various rights' groups seeking a comprehensive investigation into the Chattanpally encounter of the of the four accused in the rape and murder of vet doctor case, adjourned the matter till next Thursday, citing that there was a similar petition filed in the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile Chief Justice RS Chauhan ordered for the bodies of the four accused to be sent to Gandhi Hospital for preserving, and instructed that they be kept there until the petition was heard on Thursday December 12th.

The bodies of the accused were earlier shifted from Mahabubnagar Government Hospital to the Government Medical College at Yedira in the district, upon the instructions of the High Court, which was given at an emergency hearing late on Friday evening. The officials were directed to preserve the bodies until December 9, when Chief Justice RS Chauhan was to take up the hearing of the petition seeking probes in to the alleged encounter on Monday.

The Supreme Court will hear a petition against the police encounter by a bench headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde on Wednesday, December 11th. The SC said it would also examine what Telangana High Court would say about the whole episode. Petitioners GS Mani and Pradeep Kumar Yadav sought directions for the registration of an FIR and then an investigation by the CBI, the SIT, the CID or team of police officials from other state to conduct the probe into the encounter by the Cyberbad Police. The petition urged the apex court that the independent investigation agency must be directed in accordance with the guidelines laid down in fake encounter killings.

The Telangana government has formed an eight-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, which has taken over the investigation to probe in to the alleged encounter. Former Advocate General Prakash Reddy was appointed as a special advocate for this case.
