Hyderabad: Recently a cardiac health survey was carried out in the city. According to its reports, 57 percent of the people of Hyderabad were found to have belly fat which is the major risk factor for hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.

The risk of belly fat leading to major diseases like cardiovascular disease and hypertension were seen in the age group of 41 to 50 years. But many people are not considering it a risk.

A total of 405 people participated in the survey across the city and it has been noted that heart diseases are mostly seen in people the age of 30 years. Other major risk factors like lack of sleep, sedentary lifestyle and skipping meals were also found

According to its reports, it was found that 55 percent of Hyderabadis sleep less than 7.5 hours a day and 56 percent do not perform any kind of physical exercise regularly which is actually leading to the advent of cardiovascular diseases.

The survey reports also showed that men in the city were more prone to heart risks at 61 percent than women at 52 percent.

Hectic work schedules and daily work routines are also becoming a major reason for heart diseases.

“Lifestyle habits are a fundamental part of heart health and modifications can help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Belly fat, lack of exercise and sleep are major factors and cannot be ignored,” Dr Vasu, consultant Cardiologist at Virinchi Hospital said to a daily.

“Most of us are guilty of ignoring one or more of these small lifestyle behaviors that can have a massive impact on our hearts. Making small, positive changes in our regular lifestyle like eating right, sleeping well, regularly exercising and keeping a track of our belly fat can greatly reduce the risk to our heart,” Nutritionist Sujatha Stephen said to the leading daily.

Hence it is mandatory to bring a few changes in our daily lifestyles to ensure a healthy heart and perfect life!
