Govt to Help Bring Back AP Girl’s Body

New Delhi: The Indian government is making efforts to bring back the mortal remains of Gogineni Priyanka Chowdhury, the 25-year-old Nellore girl who had passed away in a drowning accident in the US last week. This was revealed by the union minister Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday.

The minister stated that his office had contacted the Indian embassy in Washington DC to bring back the body of Gogineni Priyanka and that the process of transportation would be started as soon as the death certificate was issued.

The minister also tweeted that Priyanka's parents were informed about the matter.

Gogineni Priyanka, a native of Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh, had pursued her MS at Washington and was employed in a company there. According to media reports, she accidentally drowned in a lake on September 28.

Her friends had appealed to the North American Telugu Association to aid her parents as they were financially hard pressed. NATA then made an appeal on their website and invited contributions from well wishers and philanthropists. The proceeds of the donations, after paying off the funeral home would be given to Priyanka's parents, the website ad read.
