Hyderabad Water Board To Supply Water Without Making You Anxious
Hyderabad: If you have spent anxious moments over the past years wondering if you would be home when the lineman releases water to your house, you now have reason to cheer and breathe easy. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board has plans to send you an SMS before your line man releases the water.
A pilot project had been taken up by the HMWS&SB 's operation and maintenance (O&M) division-IX (Kukatpally Housing Board Colony) at its Bhagyanagar section in August this year.
According to the new protocol a HMWS&SB lineman opens the valve that releases water just after the customers in the area receive an SMS alert about it. The lineman has his GPS enabled android mobile phone activated which automatically sends the SMS.
The pilot run has reportedly received a positive response from about 25,000 customers in the area. Encouraged by this, the Water Board now wants to launch the new system of SMS alerts to over 8.7 lakh customers by the end of the year or early next year.
