Taking video calling to another level...

Google has now taken video calling to another level with Google Duo app for Android users. Android users will simply have to choose a contact from call history or from contacts to make a video call. Users can even place a video call from the conversation tab in a new development showcased by Google. A contact's info card would also do in order to make a video call using the app. Google had earlier said that it would soon upgrade the system for Android users to turn an ongoing voice call to video with a mere tap. This step follows similar integration into the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, which was on the cards.

This user-friendly feature will mark a significant development in video calling. Clearly, Google's intent is to stay ahead of the competition. The original Pixel, Android One and Nexus devices will enable video calling integration as of now. It is likely that other carrier partners would also be roped in over a period of time. Similarly, other device partners are also likely to join hands with Google on this feature.

Anyone with the app can make a video call, which is the stand-out feature of Google Duo. The catch however, is that manufacturers would first have to the video calling feature available to users in order to make the integration possible. Further, users need to use the current versions of the Phone (v13.0), Contacts (v2.1), and Android Messages (v2.6) app to support Google Duo. The app promises to be a big success in the days ahead.
