GHMC Dy Commissioner Protest Forces MNR College To Pay Taxes 

Hyderabad: A Deputy Commissioner of the GHMC and her staff members staged a sit- in near a private college after the chairman of an educational institution insulted them during their regular drive to collect taxes.

Deputy Commissioner of GHMC circle 24, Mangathayaru along with other officials visited MNR College at Samathanagar in Hydernagar division to collect property tax of Rs 18 lakhs which was due for the past several years.

Mangathayaru along with the GHMC staff had already visited the college to meet college chairman, MS Raju, the previous day. However, they were told that the chairman had no time to speak to them.

So the GHMC officials came to the college once again today to speak to the chairman over the matter related to the property tax. Angered on seeing them, MS Raju shooed away Mangathayuru saying "get out of here". Insulted over the rude behaviour of the college chairman, the GHMC officials staged a sit-in before the college gate. On seeing the media persons at the college, the chairman tried to cover up the issue and hurriedly came up to the protesting deputy commissioner and paid Rs 18 lakhs, the amount due to the city civic body, by cheque.
