Vijayawada: AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu attempted to snub former chief secretary IYR Krishna Rao, on Thursday, after orders were issued to remove the latter from the chairmanship of a welfare fund for temple priests and employees.

He was earlier removed from the Brahmin Corporation. The TDP government is said to be miffed with Krishna Rao after he began exposing the failures of the administration in securing Special Category Status for AP. The former CS highlighted on several occasions, the potential scam in capital city construction and how the CMO was functioning as an extra-constitutional body. The retired IAS official said he wrote a letter to the CM, last year, strongly objecting to the Swiss Challenge policy adopted for the construction of new capital in Amaravathi.

All the agreements entered with Singapore companies under the Swiss Challenge for the construction of the capital was against the interests of Andhra Pradesh people, he warned the government of huge financial burden if the agreement is enforced.

He alleged that the companies flouted the standard norms in the Swiss Challenge during entering agreements with the government. The Naidu's government also roped in some fake Singapore companies. Rao quoted some international media reports as saying some Singapore has been a safe heaven to convert black money into white from India. Terming the Andhra Pradesh CMO office as extra-constitutional body, the former IAS officer said that there was no transparency in its functioning and no reforms have been implemented by the office so far. Krishna Rao, who held the chairman post of AP Brahmin Welfare Corporation, was sacked by Chandrababu following distasteful comments he had made against the TDP government on social media. The functioning of the CMO office would impact on the interests of the people in Andhra Pradesh, he said. Alleging that the government officials are not abiding by the norms while discharging their duties, he urged the Chief Minister to take measures in safeguarding the files and documents in the public office. He further stressed the need for setting up a manual in the CMO office.
