Hyderabad: One doesn't have to be told how pathetic the condition of public toilets are in Hyderabad. So we hardly see anyone. The consequence is for all to see, stench from the walls and roads caused by urinating in public places. Realizing this and to discourage use of public places, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), has come forward to adopt public toilets. The GHMC commissioner found that the general public was not using the loos due to lack of maintenance and thus directed his staff to adopt toilets.

The zonal commissioners and deputy commissioners and engineers issued orders and directed its staff to adopt and visit public toilets on regular basis to check if its cleanliness and hygiene levels. The officials have also put up “Izzath Ghars" posters on the public toilets. The GHMC additional commissioner N Ravi Kiran said that the attendants visiting the toilet will be provided a set of white clothes and a pair of shoes.

It may be recalled that in Swachh Survekshan 2017 report, Hyderabad ranked 22 in cleanliness among top 100 cities in India, while the first place was bagged by Indore.
