Actress Rakul Preet is one the most sought after actress in Tollywood and has also become quite busy with multi-projects in Telugu and Hindi .Recently, Rakul Preet joined the cast of Tollywood's most awaited film NTR -the biopic of late N T Rama Rao, which is produced by his son Balakrishna who also helms the titular role.Rakul Preet is all set to play the role of the iconic actress Sridevi, who passed away this year on February 24 due to drowning in a bathtub in Dubai. This will be the first time anyone has acted like the diva on screen and Rakul Preet will essay a 20 minute role of Sridevi in NTR's biopic.
In an interview, Rakul has stated that she is a huge fan of Sridevi and said that, " It's a great opportunity to recreate the diva on the silver screen which is a huge responsibility. Hope I can do justice to it. The makers have full faith in me and I hope I can live up to it, she said “.
It was earlier speculated, whether Deepika Padukone would do Sridevi's role. Whether she was approached or not or whether Deepika hadn't taken up the role is not known. The makers of NTR biopic were looking out for an established actress to play Sridevi and were are willing to pay whatever the star would have charged. If reports are to be believed, Rakul Preet is charging a Rs 1 Cr for her 20 minutes role in the film as Sridevi. Although, there has been no official confirmation yet either from filmmakers or Rakul Preet but we know that it's certainly a role of a life time for any actress.
NTR biopic will be in two instalments - NTR Kathanayakudu and NTR Mahanayakudu. The first part is set to release on January 9, 2018 while the second part could be on January-24. Apart from Rakul, NTR's biopic also features Rana Daggubati as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Chandra Babu Naidu, Sumanth as Akkineni Nageshwara Rao and Bollywood actress Vidya Balan who plays NTR's wife Basavatarakam. The latest news is that Jr NTR's brother Kalyan Ram wil be playing the role of Harikrishna ( NTR's son and Kalyan Rams and Jr. NTRs father ) in this movie.
