Bangalore:A Surat-based techie made a fake call to the Bengaluru airport warning about a bomb in the Air India flight after being delayed. As it turned out, he got caught with the help of CCTV footage.

Accused Prateek Rathore Mahesh Bhai (49) was in the city to attend a wedding along with his wife and child. Upon arriving late he called the airport authorities that there is a bomb placed in the Surat-bound Air India flight.

Right after his hoax call, airline staff and CISF staff guarding the airport had checked the flight for any explosive and announced that the flight was safe to take off.

Security officials confirmed at 6:57 pm that Surat-based Prateek was planning to board a 7 pm flight after checking the CCTV footage of him stepping out of the terminal to make the call. Later he was arrested and he admitted that he made the hoax call to delay the flight as he arrived late.

In other instance, Aditya Rao (35) an MBA graduate made three calls in the span of one-week reporting that there were bombs placed in the flights and at the airport.

According to the police, Aditya operated with two sim cards and would switch off the phone right after the call. He was finally traced by using the location of both the sim cards. He even made a hoax call to the Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) railway station.
